TIPS |
- Most locations
have check in and check out times posted
either in the room or at the service counter.
This gives the facility time to clean and
prepare rooms for arriving guests.
- Room rates are
usually available on a daily, weekly or
monthly basis.
- Room rates can
change on a daily basis depending on the
occupancy rate of the location.
- Most facilities
do not offer discounts during peak demand
times. This means that during the summer
months, most lodging facilities do not offer
daily discounted rates.
- Many locations in
Alaska have a tax on lodging, called a
"bed tax". This ranges from 2% to
10% of the daily rate.
- Price quotes for
lodging generally do not include meals, long
distance phone service, taxes or gratuities.
- You can save
money on your lodging by choosing a facility
that has features that you plan on using. If
you are not going to use room service, pools,
etc. then you may want to consider less
expensive locations which do not have these
features.
- It is not
uncommon for lodging facilities to be at 100%
occupancy during peak summer periods. Advance
reservations are always recommended.
- Most locations
are designed for double occupancy, that is
two adults in one room. There is often a
different rate for single, triple or
quadruple occupancy.
- Lodging rates for
hotel, motel and lodge locations in Alaska
during the summer tourism season can range
from $90 to $300 per day. Winter rates can be
1/2 to 1/3 less that the summer rates.
